Abstract

Archives Accreditation in Indonesian Higher Education: Procedures, Effects, and Challenges in Improving the Quality of Records Management. This research explores the archival accreditation process at four universities in Indonesia, namely Universitas Airlangga, Universitas Terbuka, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman, and Universitas Gadjah Mada, with a focus on the preparation steps, accreditation criteria, and implementation of recommendations from the accreditation process. Using a comparative descriptive approach, it was found that each university implemented different but equally effective strategies in preparing for accreditation. Universitas Airlangga emphasizes coaching and documentation, Universitas Terbuka on understanding regulations, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman on benchmarking, and Universitas Gadjah Mada on a systematic approach. The results showed that archival accreditation improved the effectiveness of records management, encouraged the use of technology, and significantly influenced records management procedures. The research also identified the main challenges and benefits faced by the university in the accreditation process, as well as the strategies implemented to overcome obstacles and maintain accreditation. The findings are expected to provide insights and guidance for other institutions in the archival accreditation process.
