Abstract

Crowdfunding Financing Models for Symphony Orchestras in the Digital Era 4.0

ABSTRACT

The digital transformation has created innovative opportunities in the financing of performing arts, particularly through the use of crowdfunding platforms. This mechanism enables art practitioners, including symphony orchestras, to obtain funding directly from the public without relying entirely on traditional sponsors or governmental institutions. This study aims to examine effective crowdfunding models and strategies within the performing arts sector, with a specific focus on symphony orchestras. Through a literature review approach, this research identifies key success factors, including audience engagement, campaign transparency, and common implementation challenges such as competition within platforms and difficulties in achieving funding targets. The results of this study indicate that crowdfunding not only enhances access to financial resources but also strengthens the relationship between symphony orchestras and their communities through active public involvement. Furthermore, this digital strategy has the potential to broaden audience reach and build a more sustainable supporter base. This study offers theoretical contributions to the understanding of alternative financing dynamics for symphony orchestras in the digital age, while also providing practical recommendations for optimizing the use of crowdfunding to support both financial and artistic sustainability in symphony orchestra performance planning.
