ANALISIS IDEOLOGI VISUAL FILM "SECRETLY GREATLY" (2013) DAN KONTEKSTUALISASINYA TERHADAP KOMUNIKASI POLITIK DI INDONESIA TAHUN 2024-2025
Abstract

Visual Ideology Analysis of the Film “Secretly Greatly” (2013) and Its Contextualization within Political Communication in Indonesia, 2024-2025. “Secretly Greatly” (2013), a South Korean film adapted through transmediation from the webtoon “Covertness” by Hun and directed by Jang Cheol-soo, follows three North Korean secret agents who go undercover and live in South Korea. This study employs a semiotic approach through textual analysis, encompassing the identification of signs, the relational meanings between signs, and visual ideology analysis based on the film’s cinematographic elements and the context of political communication in Indonesia. Despite their differing cultural backgrounds, South Korea and Indonesia share comparable dynamics in political communication within the digital era: polarization, leadership transition, security issues, and the dominance of popular culture. Global networks carry the potential to erode national ideology, supplanting it with pseudo-political imagery mediated through media. The findings reveal that beneath its action-comedy genre, “Secretly Greatly” harbors a powerful visual ideology construction: color, gesture, space, and expression collectively form a narrative of authoritarian nationalism and identity repression. Within the Indonesian context, the film functions as a reflective mirror, demonstrating how power appropriates visual symbols and social roles to sustain a nation’s ideological stability.
