EKSPLORASI MOTIF BUNGONG JEUMPA MENGGUNAKAN TEKNIK SHIBORI PADA CHEONGSAM

Abstract

According to Essi (2013) in the tradition of the Acehnese people, Bungong jeumpa is used as a symbol of beauty. With the development of technology, the people of Aceh use Bungong Jeumpa for various purposes. The shibori technique is to decorate the fabric with a certain pattern by tying, sewing, folding the fabric and then dipping it in dye. Considering that Bungong Jeumpa is experiencing scarcity, the author conducted research by making decorative motifs using the shibori technique on Cheongsam clothing. the research method used is the method of practice based research. The making of the bungong jeumpa motif using the shibori technique on the cheongsam was successfully carried out because it was in accordance with the moodboard and design made. This research can be a new innovation to develop a decorative motif of Bungong Jeumpa by using the shibori technique.
