STUDI KOMPARATIF PADA WEBSITE GALERI SENI UNIVERSITAS
Abstract

A Comparative Study of University Art Gallery Websites. University-owned art gallery websites function as platforms for presenting artworks online, serving as digital showcases for artistic exposure, educational media through various research outputs, tools for art collection management, means for organizing exhibitions, providers of information, and digital communication media for artists, visitors, and academics. This study aims to analyze and compare critical aspects of university art gallery websites, including visual aesthetic design, navigation structure, content quality, accessibility, interactive features, and practical information. The research questions address: (1) how these critical aspects are implemented on university art gallery websites, and (2) which aspects need to be optimized on the Galeri RJ Katamsi website. This study employs a qualitative methodology with a comparative analysis approach, conducted through in-depth observation of five university art gallery websites as samples, which are then analyzed based on the identified critical aspects. The findings indicate that several international art gallery websites, such as the Princeton University Art Museum and the UNSW Art and Design Gallery, have implemented consistent visual designs, strong interactive features, and diverse content presentations. In contrast, the Galeri RJ Katamsi website still faces challenges, including design inconsistency, limited interactive features, and suboptimal content updates. These findings emphasize the need to optimize design aspects and the use of digital technology to support the role of Galeri RJ Katamsi as an academic art gallery that is more informative, inclusive, and digitally competitive.
