Memahami Pengguna sebagai Tahap Awal Perancangan Interior Bus Double Decker Jarak Jauh
Abstract
User-Centered Insight for Designing Long-Distance Bus Interior
ABSTRACT
This research aims to explore the application of the Design Thinking method and the principles of Human-Centered Design (HCD) in the interior design of AKAP (Intercity-Interprovincial) Double Decker buses, with a primary focus on three key stages: Empathize, Define, and Ideate. This approach was chosen because HCD emphasizes the importance of focusing on the needs and experiences of users, allowing designers to create more relevant and effective design solutions. In the initial stage, Empathize, observations, and in-depth interviews were conducted with AKAP bus passengers to gather information regarding their needs, preferences, and the problems they frequently encounter during their journeys. The data collected was then analyzed and integrated into the Define stage, where the key problems that need to be addressed in the bus interior design were clearly identified. This process aims to ensure that the developed design can provide targeted and sustainable solutions for the user experience. In the Ideate stage, brainstorming sessions were held to generate creative ideas considering important aspects such as comfort, safety, and the bus interior’s aesthetics, while maintaining a focus on how to improve the overall user experience. The findings from the Empathize and Define stages show that AKAP bus passengers require comfort, privacy, and flexibility during long journeys. Based on these findings, this research developed innovative design solutions, including seating arrangements, material selection, optimal lighting, and an efficient air circulation system. All these solutions are focused on creating a comfortable environment that enhances the quality of interaction among passengers and the overall comfort of the journey, in line with the HCD principles that prioritize user satisfaction and well-being.
