Abstract

Street photography is able to highlight various social issues, such as the transformation of public space, economic inequality. In addition, street photography is also a strong visual communication medium in building empathy and awareness of the community towards the social conditions around them. This research wants to convey that street photography not only has good technique, composition and aesthetic value, but also as a critical medium in understanding and conveying the complexity of social life in urban areas, which tends to be individualistic which is formed in the social system of society so that there is a lack of interaction between people, they in urban areas focus on working hard. As such, street photography can be an important medium in social studies and contribute to the building of collective consciousness. Through the street photography approach, the image becomes more than just a visual record; it provokes deep emotions and interpretations, opening up discussions about the often hidden realities in the dynamics of urban life.
